Here's a basic guideline on how to get started with Apple Fitness workout videos.
Work out with Apple Fitness+
Work out with some of the world's top trainers on your iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. Apple Fitness+ lets you browse to find your next workout, customize your in-session workout metrics, and get moving.
About Apple Fitness+
Apple Fitness+ is a subscription service that gives you access to trainer-guided workout videos on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV.* Apple Fitness+ supports 10 workout types - High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Yoga, Core, Strength, Treadmill (Walk or Run), Cycling, Rowing, Dance, and Mindful Cooldown. Apple Fitness+ workouts are powered by your Apple Watch — in-session, you can see your heart rate and Activity Rings onscreen. Workouts range from 5 to 45 minutes in length, and new content is added weekly.
Find a workout
If you’ve completed at least three Fitness+ workouts, your personalized recommendations will be at the top of the app. If you don't see personalized recommendations, you can still find and filter workouts.

You can display your workout time, heart rate, and calories burned in the upper left as you workout. Your Activity Rings progress also appears in the upper right.
Time
You can choose whether to show how much time has elapsed in your workout, how much time is remaining, or turn off time.
Burn Bar
The Burn Bar is a way for you to compare your effort to others who've done the same workout. It adjusts to account for weight to allow for an equal comparison and is shown as your calories burned. If you leave it on, your workout data is anonymously added to the Burn Bar competition. The Burn Bar is available for High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Treadmill, Cycling, and Rowing workouts.

Here's how the Burn Bar calculates and displays your metrics:
- The Burn Bar takes your heart rate into consideration when determining your results. If your heart rate doesn't display, results on the Burn Bar might be impacted. Learn how to get the most accurate measurements using your Apple Watch.
- Based on your calories burned, the Burn Bar will show whether you're Behind the Pack, In the Pack, Middle of the Pack, Front of the Pack, or Ahead of the Pack. The harder you work, the more opportunity you have you move up in the pack.
- The Burn Bar appears 2 minutes into your workout. It displays based on a rolling window and is reflective of your last 2 minutes of work.
- When your workout is complete, your final position on the Burn Bar is an average of your effort across the whole workout. You can view your Burn Bar result in your workout summary.
